Safeway's "People with Disabilities Campaign"
For the fifth consecutive year Special Olympics Oregon has been once again invited to be part of Safeway’s April point of service fundraising promotion in-stores across the state! Helping people with disabilities is a cause that’s close to our hearts because of the large number of our employees who have disabilities.
Meet Alan Blanchard, Special Olympics athlete and 10 year Safeway employee in Newberg, Oregon. For Alan, competition has set him on the path to economic independence. According to Alan, "I like to be busy. Competing for Special Olympics Oregon, especially in swimming, is one way. Another is my job at Safeway. Now, I pay my own rent and keep track of my spending in my checkbook." Way to go, Alan!
