The Eastern and Genuardi's Divisions participate in 'Light the Way' 5K walk.
The Safeway Foundation supported the inaugural Light the Way 5K Race on September 10th at Nationals Park in Washington, DC, to benefit the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.
In addition to the sponsorship, about 20 Safeway employees volunteered to provide water and refreshments along the race route. Eastern Division President Steve Neibergall (wearing black, center and kneeling) ran in the event, tethered as a guide for a blind runner. Pictured here with some of the Safeway volunteers is one of the Washington Nationals' Racing Presidents, Tom Jefferson.
