PHOENIX DIVISION COMMUNITY OUTREACH GUIDELINES

Safeway’s division-based community outreach program is intended to assist nonprofit organizations located in Arizona cities and towns where Safeway has a presence.  Safeway offers a variety of resources to support local charitable efforts, with a primary focus on donations of groceries and general merchandise.

ONGOING DONATION PROGRAM

To be considered for a donation, an organization must:

• Be a registered IRS 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.  Donations will not be provided to individuals or to fundraising efforts for the benefit of a single individual.
• Be located in an Arizona city or town where Safeway conducts business.
• Identify the event/activity for which a donation is sought, and the specific amount of the requested donation.
• Submit a request on organizational letterhead at least six weeks in advance of the event/activity.

• All written requests are reviewed bi-weekly by a division donations committee.
• A written response will be sent approximately four weeks following receipt of the request.
• Donation requests are evaluated based on the organization’s ability to meet Safeway’s division guidelines, with consideration of prior commitments made to organizations with a similar purpose.
• Only one division contribution will be made to an approved organization in a calendar year.
• In most cases, approved donations will not exceed $50 in groceries/merchandise, provided in the form of a Safeway gift card.
• The ongoing division donation program is not designed to benefit political, religious, or labor/fraternal organizations; sporting leagues/clubs; schools; or individuals.
• Schools, churches, and related youth and community groups can apply for funding through Safeway’s eScrip partnership. The eScrip program provides an opportunity for these types of organizations to raise money when they use their Safeway Club Card.  Please visit www.eScrip.com to determine if your organization meets the eScrip program guidelines.
